Used car
You have many choices at ALD Bil where you will find the most sought after brands on the market. There are lots of things to take into consideration when you are looking for a used car. Below are our top tips:
Make and size
Your needs will determine your car choice. Station wagon or saloon? Do you need space for a child seat? Do you do most of your driving in the city or in the country? Will the car fit in your garage even with a roof box? Consider the dimensions of the interior, the boot and the exterior.
Safety
It is of course important to look at safety apart from evaluating what type of car you need. The cars you find at ALD Bil are almost new, generally have good impact test results and are mostly equipped with the latest safety systems.
One way of comparing different cars is by looking at the EuroNCAP ratings where the safety is given in number of stars. Cars should be compared within their class when looking at the ratings. Five stars for a small car is not the same as five stars for a big car since size and weight has a large effect on the outcome of a real crash.
Fuel
You can lower both the cost and environmental impact by choosing a model which doesn’t use a lot of fuel and you would be wise to to make this choice according to how the new car will be used. Diesel might be preferable if you often drive long distances on highroads. An electric or hybrid car might be a smarter choice if you have charging access where you live and work (or wherever you keep your car for extended periods) and mostly drive shorter distances. Petrol or hybrid could be the best solution if your driving is a mix of town and country.
All cars, including green vehicles, release exhausts and use natural resources. You should therefore always choose one that uses as little fuel as possible, regardless of fuel type. Also remember that the manner in which you drive is an important factor influencing fuel consumption.
Tax, green cars and super green car premium
Apart from newer petrol and diesel cars we also have green cars using biogas and ethanol as well as electric and hybrid cars. Certain newer cars are exempt from tax, these are listed in the current green car definition, which you can find at miljöfordon.se.
Model year
The common term is model year, which indicates how the car is equipped and the modifications made at every new model year. Many manufacturers also give the date of the first registration or month. We always use model year at ALD Bil.
